Human vagina represents a dynamic ecosystem dominated by certain species of Lactobacillus. This microorganism restricts the growth of pathogens by using properties of steric exclusion and inhibitory substance production. Serious complications including bacterial vaginosis and vaginal cancer are often determined in women with reduced numbers of lactobacilli. Local application of Lactobacillus is consequently promising to keep the vagina colonized by this strain, which consequently reduces the infections. The first objective of this research was to develop a local application pharmaceutical formulation of a vaginal suppository containing lyophilized culture of Lactobacillus with anti microbial agent Povidone iodine. The second objective was to establish a stable clindamycine suppositiry alone with Lactic acid Bacillus Spores for vaginosis. Keywords

Malaria is caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Plasmodium. The most serious forms of the disease are caused by Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax, but other related species (Plasmodium ovale, Plasmodium malariae) can also affect humans. The initial symptoms of malaria which include fever, headache and muscular aches. Plasmodium develops in the gut of the mosquito and passed in the saliva of an infected insect each time it takes a new blood meal. The parasites are then carried by the blood in the victim's liver where they invade the cells and multiply. After 9-16 days they return to the blood and penetrate the red cells, where they multiply again, progressively breaking down the red cells. In cerebral malaria, the infected red cells obstruct the blood vessels in the brain. The four species of malaria are distinguished by their different appearances of Trophozoites, Schizonts, Gametocytes and staining, size and shape of infected red blood cells, and other characteristics. The key role of traditional medicine in the development of modern medicine for prevention of malaria is discussed in this article. In-vitro and in-vivo antiplasmodial activities are experimental models for detecting antiplasmodial activity of plant extracts in the erythrocytic stage of malaria parasites. The study is likely to promote a rational use of botanicals and must be continued focusing on the isolation and characterizing active principles of the crude extract, its pharmacological validation, standardization and formulation. Keywords

The present study was aimed at evaluating the chloroform extracts of whole part of Cyathocline lyrata cass antiinflammatory activity. Anti-inflammatory activity of chloroform extracts of whole part of Cyathocline lyrata cass was evaluated by carrageenan induced hind paw edema and Formalin induced paw edema method. Chloroform extracts of whole part of Cyathocline lyrata cass produced significant Anti-inflammatory activity when evaluated by carrageenan induced hind paw edema and Formalin induced paw edema method respectively. The interpretation of the results was done after subjecting the data obtained from various studies to statistical analysis which included one-way ANOVA followed by post-hoc with Dunnets t-test. The results suggest that the chloroform extracts of whole part of Cyathocline lyrata cass posses anti-inflammatory.Keywords

The present article aimed at focusing the different courses being conducted to prepare the manpower for the pharmacy profession i.e. each and every field which is directly or indirectly related to the production and sell of drugs. The article also highlights the regulatory bodies involved in designing the syllabus also the content of course at every stage of the course, the practical training that a student should undergo at every level. The brief discussion has been made about the functions of the regulatory bodies. A correlation has been made between the theoretical and practical content of the course with the present professional opportunities and the requirement of the Pharma industries. A little attempt has been made and some views are put through this platform for upgrading the standard of education to bridge the gape between the theoretical approach of the course and present need of the pharmacy profession at the industrial as well as educational level. Pharmacy education in India traditionally has been industry and product oriented. The information presented in this paper may stimulate discussion and critical analysis and planning, and will be of value in further adaptation of the pharmacy education to desired educational outcomes. Keywords

The matrix-type controlled transdermal drug delivery systems were prepared by solvent evaporation method using methanol: dichloromethane (1:1) as solvent for HPMC and ethanol as solvent for Eudragit RL 100 and Eudragit RS 100 (ERL 100 and ERS 100). In the evaluation tests it was found that formulation batch L1 (96.40%) was having more release as compared to formulation L2 (95.52%) but later had much better physicochemical properties and shown cumulative percentage diffusion 96.60% in 24 h. The transdermal patches were evaluated for their In vitro dissolution test and in vitro diffusion test, skin irritation test. Scanning electron microscopy was performed to characterize the transdermal patch.

Canarium strictum Roxb. (Burseraceae) is used in the traditional Ayurvedic medicine under the name Raladhupa and black dammar resin. The isolation of compound A and compound B were carried out from chloroform extract by counter current distribution method. The purity of each compound was estimated by using Thin Layer Chromatography. The preliminary phytochemical screening of each compounds showed the presence of triterpenoid. The compound A and Compound B were investigated for antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) activity by using cup plate method or diffusion agar method. The results obtained shows that compound A and compound B possess broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity at concentration of 100μg/ml. The inhibitory effect of each compound is very close and identical in magnitude for Gram- positive, Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Keywords
